Burrells Oscars

Posted by Burrells on Feb 25, 2020 1:02:06 PM

And the Oscar goes to…

Nothing makes quite a statement like the Oscars. When it comes to award ceremonies, it’s, well, the Oscars. And, as always, it’s the dresses and jewellery that really create that red carpet drama we all so eagerly anticipate.

The who wore what and who wore it best will forever surpass the excitement of who won the award for... and this year at the 92nd Academy Awards was no exception. So, without wanting to brush past the prestige of winning an actual Oscar, here are the nominees for ‘Best Jewellery Award’.

Janelle Monae

American singer-songwriter, Janelle Monae rocked the most eye-catching outfit in her hooded and stunningly embellished Ralph Lauren hooded gown. But it was the Forevermark diamond necklace that really caught our attention. Hard to spot amongst the 168,000 Swarovski crystals and almost looking slightly understated, the entire ensemble really had that wow-factor!

Kaitlyn Dever

23-year-old Katilyn stunned in a silky red, sustainable, Louis Vuitton dress encrusted with over 14,000 Swarovski crystals and fuschia glass beads. The rising star finished the dramatic look with simple diamonds and ruby red drop earrings like our Burrells Halo 18ct ruby and diamond drop earrings.

Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman not only caused a stir with her embroidered gown with the names of female film-makers who were passed over in the nominations but also with her beautifully co-ordinated Cartier high jewellery. An 18k yellow gold ring with a yellow diamond, black lacquer and white diamonds added to this statement look.

Greta Gerwig

Wearing Dior and looking oh-so-classic was Little Women director, Greta Gerwig who complimented her gown with some bold and gorgeous green Bulgari jewellery. Platinum, emeralds and round, pear and pavé-set diamonds gave her look that classical Oscar drama.

Cynthia Erivo

Our Golden Globes favourite was back with even more style and class with not one, not two but seven Piaget diamond rings and an array of crystal rings. Showing yet again that more is elegantly more. Plus, we can’t get enough of Cynthia’s ear jewellery.
