Pre-owned Rolex Datejust - Burrells

If you're interested in buying a pre-owned watch, you're probably looking for a list of best online pre-owned watch retailers.

An investment in a luxury watch is an important one, and if you do your research and shop with a reputable retailer, you can rest assured that your watch will be authenticated and fully-refurbished.

Here at Burrells, we've been selling luxury watches and jewellery for over 40 years, and we're often asked our opinion of other pre-owned watch retailers.

We're committed to being open and transparent about both our business and the wider industry, so today we have put together a list of the 3 best places to buy pre-owned watches online.

1. Watchfinder & Co

Watchfinder & Co. logo

Established in 2002, Watchfinder & Co. is the UK's largest buyer and seller of pre-owned watches. Their impressive website features over 50 brands, and whether you wish to buy, sell or even exchange, it is easy to navigate around.

The company was an independent business up until early 2018, when it was acquired by Switzerland-based luxury goods holding company Richemont.

With over 15 years of experience selling pre-owned watches, you can be sure that you’ll receive expert advice and knowledge at Watchfinder.

They are great at sharing their knowledge too, regularly publishing helpful articles and videos. Over 170K people subscribe to their YouTube channel, which features reviews, how-to’s and more.

The product descriptions on the Watchfinder website are very detailed, however if you have a question that hasn’t been answered, they make it easy and quick for you to ‘Ask An Expert’.

One of the best things about Watchfinder is that it has its own manufacturer certified service centre, and before being sold, every watch receives a rigorous inspection at this facility. Each watch also comes with a 12-month warranty.

Watchfinder also offers a finance option on their watches too.

What Brands can I Expect to see?

You can find over 50 brands at Watchfinder. Their impressive portfolio boasts big names like OMEGA, Rolex, Cartier, TAG Heuer, Breitling and Patek Philippe and they also have a large selection of Audemars Piguet, IWC, Hublot and Jaeger-LeCoultre watches.

Is There a Physical Location?

Watchfinder & Co. has nine stores across the UK. There are five in London, one in Birmingham, one in Leeds, and two in Kent.

2. Xupes

Xupes is another worthy member of our list. They call themselves the home of pre-owned luxury, selling second-hand premium watches, jewellery, handbags and art.

Xupes is a family business which was set up in 2009 by Joe McKenzie and his father, Frank, from their garage in Bishop’s Stortford. Joe says, “Nothing we sell is cheap but the bags, jewellery and watches can be significantly cheaper than what you might pay for them on Bond Street.”

Xupes has its own service centre in the Hertfordshire countryside, which has been accredited by OMEGA and Cartier. Before a watch makes it onto the Xupes website, it is inspected in-house by their watchmakers and authenticated, refurbished and rigorously tested. Every Xupes watch comes with up to 24 months warranty.

The Xupes website is beautiful and very easy to navigate around. Each watch features an extremely comprehensive description and there is a Live Chat feature if you have any questions you want answered on the spot (very helpful!)

There are also up to 10 high quality photos of every watch on the Xupes website. You can see a wristshot and a photo of the box and papers (if applicable).

To help you on your search for the perfect watch, The Xupes Journal is regularly updated with buying guides and interesting/helpful articles.

And lastly, Xupes also offers a finance option and also part-exchange, consignment and sell-your-item schemes.
