5 New Watch Brands Launch in Burrells Staines-upon-Thames

Posted by Steve Georges on Jun 28, 2018 11:36:45 AM

We recently announced the exciting news that we’ve rebranded our sister company, Swag Jeweller in Staines, to Burrells.

The name Swag has been a part of the Ferris family (the owners of Burrells) for nearly 45 years. Although it holds great sentimental value, it has recently come to have other meanings associated with it, and we don’t feel they fit with the calibre of jewellery and watches that we offer.

Under the Burrells name, we are now able to launch a number of luxury brands in Staines this summer. Here, Steve Georges (a member of our Staines team), reveals the five exciting new names that are coming to Burrells Staines upon Thames.

I would like to extend a very warm welcome to everyone, from our existing clients who have been part of the Swag family for over 30 years and are now joining us on our new Burrells adventure, to current Burrells customers and anyone else who is being introduced to us for the very first time.

I am incredibly proud and excited to be part of the Burrells launch in Staines. Our core identity has not and will never change, we just now have beautiful new branding.

We are committed as we always have been to deliver an exceptional level of service and you will still see the same friendly faces at our Staines store.

It gives me great pleasure to announce a few of the fantastic watch brands that will be added to the new Burrells Staines upon Thames store this year.

Bremont

Bremont is a British brand which was founded by brothers Nick and Giles English in 2002.

Nick and Giles are determined to play a pivotal role in the reinvigoration of the watchmaking industry in Britain, and all Bremont watches are designed, manufactured and assembled at the brand’s headquarters in Henley-on-Thames, South Oxfordshire.

The brand works closely with the military on many special projects.

My Stand-out Watch

The watch I’m most excited about is the Bremont Endurance Limited Edition, a new 2018 piece that is designed to be fit-for-purpose in the most severe places on earth.

Nick and Giles worked with Bremont ambassador Ben Saunders, the record-breaking polar explorer and endurance athlete, on the testing and development of this impressive limited edition.

The new Bremont Endurance set out with Ben in November 2017 to make the first solo and unsupported crossing of Antarctica, and the watch (worn on the outside of his jacket) served as a crucial navigational device with its GMT hand. It really does live up to name “Endurance”.

The Bremont Endurance is limited to only 300 pieces.

How Much are Bremont Watches?

Average price range: Around £2,700 to £10,000.

TUDOR

TUDOR is a premium Swiss watch brand drawing on a rich watchmaking heritage to offer high-quality watches at affordable prices.

And TUDOR has a seriously impressive heritage – the brand was created by the founder of Rolex, Hans Wilsdorf.

Never afraid to redefine the rules, TUDOR watches are strongly connected to the past while also incorporating 21st-century technology. TUDOR is not a brand to shy away from pushing the boundaries, always experimenting with unusual materials, combinations and inspirations.

Exemplifying the quality of the brand, both the French and US Navies have used TUDOR watches.

Longines

Longines is a luxury watch brand with a rich watchmaking heritage. Longines has called St. Imier in Switzerland its home since 1832, and in 2012 the brand celebrated its 180th anniversary.

Today, Longines is part of The Swatch Group, which owns many luxury brands, including OMEGA and Harry Winston.

Famous for the elegance of its watches and the brand's strong devotion to the world of sport, Longines sponsors prestigious events such as Roland Garros, Royal Ascot, The Dubai World Cup and the Prix de Diane Longines.

For a brand synonymous with grace and performance, Longines’ association with the equestrian world is the perfect partnership.

Among the more popular Longines watch models are the Master Collection, Legend Diver and the Conquest Classic.

Famous Ambassadors

Kate Winslet, Simon Baker, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (Indian actress, model and winner of the 1994 Miss World pageant).

MY STAND-OUT WATCH

In my opinion, no watch better represents the elegance of Longines than the DolceVita Collection. The distinctive rectangular casing lends an understated beauty to the watch, which is worn by many glamorous celebrities, including Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet.

How Much are Longines Watches?

Average price range: Around £690 to £5,000.

Gucci

After a decade in the darkness, Gucci has exploded in popularity in the last couple of years, and younger consumers are flocking to it.

The brand’s new Creative Director, Alessandro Michele, who took over in 2015, has completely refreshed Gucci’s look by injecting an eclectic mix of colours and patterns into the designs. This is a far cry from the former classic styles of the previous designer, Frida Giannini.

The brand is capitalising on a resurgence of '90s styles and collections are daring, with a streak of mystery and eccentricity. Michele is setting trends rather than following them.

Michele has put his magical touch on the watches too. Whimsical designs feature a familiar cast of motifs and patterns;

From the tiger, who frequently graces Gucci’s embellished sweaters; to the serpent, which stars on the clasp of the hit Dionysus bag; to the bee, a talisman first introduced in the Seventies, and one which pops up embroidered on trainers, set in jewellery and appearing on bags.

Famous Ambassadors

Dakota Johnson, Harry Styles, Florence Welch.

My standout watch

The New Flora, a 60-year-old print, which features on clothing and bags, embroiders the G-Timeless watch this season and I think it's one of the standout pieces from the new collection.

Average price range: £350 to £2,000.
